Video and Sound Production Final Project

REFLECTION

REFLECTION
Over the course of 14 weeks in the Video and Sound Production module, I explored the creative and technical foundations of filmmaking through a range of structured tasks and collaborative projects. The experience allowed me to gradually build up my competencies in areas such as editing, sound manipulation, shooting, and implementing visual effects.

In our first project, I developed a deeper appreciation for the role of precise audio dubbing in shaping the emotional tone of a scene. Through a series of sound design exercises, I experimented with tools like EQ, reverb, and pitch adjustment to mimic various acoustic environments—from enclosed spaces like closets to abstract sci-fi atmospheres. These tasks helped me understand how sound can be engineered to support and enhance the narrative.

Project 2 focused more on production teamwork. Acting as the boom operator, I learned how to capture clean dialogue on set while coordinating movements with the camera crew. Our team collaborated on two projects, “Larin” and the “Final Trailer,” where I also gained practical knowledge of working in real-world shooting environments. I realized how essential it is to maintain consistent communication and adapt quickly to on-site challenges.

For the final assignment, I applied visual effects techniques using Premiere Pro and After Effects. I practiced skills such as rotoscoping, masking, and motion tracking to create scenes featuring multiple versions of the same character, enhancing the complexity and visual impact of the work.

Altogether, this module provided a well-rounded introduction to the entire video and audio production process—from initial planning to post-production. It not only strengthened my technical abilities but also improved my teamwork and storytelling awareness. I now feel much more equipped to contribute meaningfully to multimedia production projects in the future.
